Swansea CAN

Swansea Climate Action Network is a group of people different ages, backgrounds that gets together once a month during Wednesday nights in the Environment Centre that shares a meal together followed by important topics that are impacting the community and even better that speaks about solutions.

Part of those topics are how climate change is affecting the lives of the population and overall, those that are struggling, supporting campaigns anti racism also projects that are protecting the environment, growing food, green jobs, sharing ideas in how to involve more people in these activities.

Understanding that not long ago the shelves of the shops had been emptied of the essential products such as vegetables that are necessary for the families and how to overcome this situation hoping that we have a better future where we contribute each other, and we can reduce hunger and have a better place to live.

CAN is supporting the next activities

Save Kilvey Hill

People locally can enjoy the forest and go for a walk in it, however there is a tourism project that will be inserted in the area and will make it expensive for the local people so the people from other countries come to spend a lot of money in this area and leaving the most vulnerable in the area without a recreation space for themselves and their families overall with the cost of living crisis and it is difficult for them to go somewhere else.

The Big One

This activity will be a march about climate change on specific days during April, between 21st-24th of April when some people will be at Parliament.

Cool blocks:

This is a supporting project that prepares the residential blocks for any climate emergency.
