Environment Centre Supports TerraCycle Scheme

We are now a TerraCycle collection point

We are pleased to be part of this international initiative as one of a number of places across Swansea collecting ‘hard-to-recycle waste’ – things that can’t go in your normal household recycling. The scheme generates small amounts of money for the organisers, that are donated to local schools or community groups. For us, the rewards go to Waunarlwydd Primary School.

There is a wide range of items included in the scheme, though not all collection points accept the entire range. Here at the Environment Centre, we are happy to take charge of your bread bags, crisp and snack packets, biscuit and sweet wrappers, toothpaste tubes and toothbrushes, spray trigger heads and tassimo pods and packaging. The table below gives lots of detail, and we have summarised it into our own list too.

Please do make sure you check carefully against the list which things you can bring!

There is a growing number of locations around Swansea offering these collections now. The waste is never landfilled or incinerated, only circular methods are used (reuse, upcycling or recycling). For more info see the TerraCycle website:
