Towards a One-Planet Swansea

On Monday 13th May, the Environment Centre hosted a talk by local author David Thorpe who launched his new book – One Planet Cities: Sustaining Humanity within Planetary Limits and posed the question ‘How can the increasing human population survive and thrive while repairing the damage done to nature by reducing our ecological footprint. David gave a presentation which set out a system for communities to declare an intention to become ‘one planet’ and there followed an open discussion on how Swansea could become the first  ‘one planet’ city and how to tackle the climate emergency.

A copy of David’s talk is available below, and you can email him to find out more or get your copy of his book at hello@davidthorpe.info

The event was part of the Working With Nature series organised by The Environment Centre in partnership with Natural Resources Wales and Swansea Environmental Forum.
