#PlasticFreeSwansea

You will, no doubt, all be aware of the increasing amount of news items, activities and campaigns around being plastic-free or using less single-use plastic in our everyday lives, due to its impact on the environment and the oceans in particular.

A group to co-ordinate the local effort emerged in Swansea in April 2018 and has recently held its second meeting at the Environment Centre.  There we heard from Plastic Free Pennard and Surfers Against Sewage and also from Geraint Davies MP, who has launched a plastics Bill through parliament.

The group’s volunteers are moving ahead on many fronts but activities are focussed around four aspects. They are ‘Shop’, ‘Inform’, ‘Campaign’ and ‘Get involved’ and more information on these can be seen on the new website. Facebook and twitter accounts have also been set up to help spread the word.  The public meetings are open to anyone who is interested so keep your eyes peeled for information after the summer and feel free to get in touch with any suggestions or ideas delyth@environmentcentre.org.uk

This is just the start of the work in Swansea -so please support us and connect on social media!
