Grow Wild! with The Environment Centre

Now on sale in the Environment Centre shop 10g packs of Classic Wildflower Mix seeds. Sow in your garden and help make Swansea a more colourful place! You will help our pollinators, such as bees, and enjoy a stunning and ever changing display – dainty whites, blues, pinks and reds from late spring to gorgeous autumnal colours later in the season.

The packs are sold at £3.50 each. Come get them as soon as possible, they must be sown by end of June 2018.

 

 

May Day Quiz Night

On Tuesday 1st of May, come to the Environment Centre to enjoy a challenging, fun-filled night and help raise funds for the Centre.

You can form a team with friends and colleagues or just come along and join a team on the night (4-6 players per team).

From 7 pm to 9 pm, £3 per player. Prizes to be won and a raffle. Bring your own drinks – nibbles provided.

Wild Plant Paper Making Workshop

Come to the Environment Centre on Saturday 12th of May and make paper from locally grown wild plants. After a demonstration of the cooking and beating process by Wild Plant Paper, you can make your own sheets of paper from prepared pulp and take them home to finish drying off.

Please come in clothes that will not mind getting wet. You may wish to wear an apron. Please bring about 20 J cloths to ‘couch’ your paper and a plastic bag to take it home with you. When you get home, you will need some old newspaper or printer paper and a heavy weight (eg a box of books) to dry your paper out fully.

£12.50 per person. Includes paper to take home with you, ideal for crafting and art projects. Refreshments included. Under 14’s can attend but must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. The workshop starts at 10.30 am and will finish at 1 pm.

Clothes Swap!

Don’t shop, swap! The Environment Centre in partnership with Sustainable Swansea will host a Clothes Swap event on Saturday, 28th of April. You can bring clothes, shoes, bags and accessorize and swap them with other clothing items. You can also join in our pre-swap “Repair & Revive” session at 11.15 am with The Creatory, and find out how to upcycle an item of clothing. Bring at least 3 or more quality items, clothes drop off from 10.30 am, swap starts at 12 noon.

£5 Entry, includes light refreshments. Space is limited so it is advisable to book in advance by e-mailing bookings@environmentcentre.org.uk or calling (01792) 480200.
